I’m still here!! Yes, that’s right…I’m here and I’m making smoothies, every day! I just haven’t been able to post for various reasons! But, I’m here and I know that many, many of you are here, too! I’m still getting emails, texts and posts from all of you. It’s rather inspirational. Probably one of the coolest things was having someone I didn’t know ask me if I’ve tried “this green smoothie challenge thing” that their friend was doing it and she thought she should too. I said “hmmm…I’ve made them once or twice, but tell me more about this challenge.”
So, I’m ready for this upcoming weeks challenge – making a SUPER SMOOTHIE. I have been growing my own wheatgrass timed perfectly for this coming week. We just juiced our first batch from it. I will post more later this week!
I haven’t made our smoothie yet today, but I’ll highlight a smoothie from earlier in the week; our “good fat” was cod liver oil.
3 cups collard, kale, mustard greens
2 cups romaine
1 cup parsley
3/4 cup pineapple, frozen
1 cup blueberries, frozen
2 tbsp cod liver oil
I blended all of my greens and then added in the fruit and cod liver oil. It was quite tasty…I love the taste of parsley in a smoothie, it’s so refreshing!
I’m looking forward to this coming week. We will put it all together and have super powered smoothies! It’s pretty exciting that we are nearing the end — make sure to keep me posted on your progress!

In January 2013 I realized I needed to do something to improve my health. I spent 2012 on maternity leave and often neglected taking care of my own health (sleepless nights and caring for a tiny human will do that!). Not to mention the many years before that where health was at the bottom of my list of priorities. Luckily, I discovered Lisa's 30 day green smoothie challenge. The recipes were incredible and a green smoothie drinker was born! But I didn't stop there. Starting each day in such a healthy way led me to consult with a naturopath (it would have been Lisa if we were in the same city), do an elimination diet, and discover that I have sensitivities to wheat and milk. I changed to a whole foods-based diet (most of the time) and took up running. In the span of 8.5 months I went from being tired and sluggish on the couch (literally - I could run for one minute at a time before having to walk) to having enough energy to run the Detroit International Half Marathon. I actually RAN the whole thing! And I lost almost 60lbs along the way! Thank you, Lisa, for being my catalyst. Your challenge kept me interested in a new way of living and saved me! I continue to drink a green smoothie every day for breakfast. What a wonderful way to start each day!
Thank you thank you thank you!!!
